Entergy Arkansas storm update – 3/16/2025, 4 p.m.

03/16/2025

Multiple thunderstorms moved through the state March 14 and March 15, causing widespread power outages to more than 15,000 customers, toppling transmission structures, breaking hundreds of power poles and causing major property damage.

As soon as the storms passed, Entergy Arkansas went to work and has restored approximately 90% of our customers since the onset of this storm event. The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado struck Cave City, Ark. The estimated EF3 tornado produced winds between 136 to 165 mph that caused extensive damage. In addition to broken power poles and downed lines, substations and transmission structures were also damaged.

Entergy Arkansas would like to extend a sincere thanks to the men and women who worked around the clock to safely restore power. Additional workers – including Entergy Arkansas vegetation crews, scouts, contractors, and mutual assistance resources from outside of the state – have been in the field working. Restoring your power as quickly and safely as possible is our top priority, and we appreciate your patience.

Consistent with our commitment to powering life for our customers every day, our crews are rebuilding the system with thicker, stronger poles. In some cases, concrete poles are being used to improve system infrastructure and make it more resilient.
