Entergy Arkansas storm update – 5/25/24, 8 p.m.

05/25/2024

Crews are working around the clock to safely restore power after multiple rounds of severe weather caused outages. We’ve restored a total of 57,000 customers since the event(s), started about 3 p.m. on Friday. Currently, 4,579 customers remain without power.

Damage includes 132 spans of downed power lines, 46 broken poles and 15 transformers. A span is the distance between two utility poles. The majority of customers who lost power should be restored tonight, but some outages will carry over until tomorrow. Another round of severe weather could occur, which could cause additional outages or slow restoration progress.

More than 300 workers from Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas are assisting Entergy Arkansas employees and contractors. Consistent with our commitment to powering life for our customers every day, our crews are rebuilding the system with thicker, stronger poles and in some cases, concrete poles, to improve system infrastructure and make it more resilient.

We are watching the weather forecast for additional storms entering our service territory again tonight into Sunday morning. Our crews plan and train for storm readiness year-round and are ready to respond when needed.

Thank you for your patience as we work to restore power to all customers. For real-time updates, please continue to visit the View Outage map.

Safety First!

As with any weather event, please be mindful of the following safety tips:

  • Live wires can be deadly. Stay away from downed power lines. Call 1-800-9OUTAGE or 1-800-968-8243 to report downed or dangling power lines, damaged or downed poles or other damaged equipment.
  • Do not trim trees or remove debris on or near downed power lines. Only power company crews or their contractors should remove trees or limbs touching power lines. Again, stay away from downed power lines.
  • Keep away from the immediate areas where crews are working. There is always the danger of moving equipment and the possibility of construction materials, limbs or overhead wires falling to the ground.
  • If you plan on using a generator for temporary power, get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility electric system before hooking up to your main electric panel.
  • Do not run a generator in a confined space without adequate ventilation. Use them only outdoors, following all manufacturers’ safety guidelines.
  • Turn off any electrical appliances that can easily be turned to the off position until power is restored.
