Entergy Arkansas winter storm update – 2/24/22, 7 p.m.
02/24/2022
The line of severe winter weather and ice accumulations will be exiting the state tonight. The winter storms over the past two days have produced widespread damage causing more than approximately 30,087 customer outages at peak today. As of 6 p.m., outages have been reduced to approximately 22,582 customers.
In eastern Arkansas winter weather precipitation will continue with the highest ice accumulations expected to range from 1/4 to 3/8 inches, possibly creating problems for the electric system and making for hazardous driving conditions, potentially slowing restoration. The number of power outages will fluctuate and likely increase as temperatures drop below freezing this evening. Wind gusts are predicted to resume primarily in east and southeast Arkansas in the wake of the ending precipitation.
We have assembled and engaged 2,100 restoration workers. We are responding to outages as quickly and safely as possible. The Pine Bluff, Helena and Russellville areas are expected to be restored by the end of the day tomorrow. Restoration times for all other affected customers are not yet available, although updates will be provided via the outage map as soon as crews can make those determinations It is estimated that some outages in the hardest-hit areas may take a few days to restore. We ask for your patience, and please know that safely restoring your power is our top priority.
