Entergy Communicators Take Home Top Mississippi Public Relations Awards
04/30/2018
The Entergy office of communications was recognized as the best in the business during the Public Relations Association of Mississippi Annual Conference in Starkville.
Entergy received the Best in Show Award for its social media response efforts during Hurricane Harvey. This is the highest honor bestowed by the organization, and it's used to recognize only one public relations project statewide each year. The same project also received a PRism Award, which designated it as the best entry in its category.
"It's incredibly gratifying to accept these awards on behalf of both Entergy's entire communications department and our partners in customer service, who helped us respond to a lot of frightened, frazzled stakeholders in the weeks after Harvey," said Nicole Bradshaw, Entergy's manager of digital and social media. "Many, many Entergy employees put in long hours to help tell our story and take care of our customers and communities during this historic event. This recognition belongs to all of them."

In addition, Entergy Mississippi's communications team won a PRism Award for its "Eagles Win in Game of Chicken with Entergy in Madison County" news release. According to the judges, the feature story was written in a consumer-friendly way, with clever headlines, genuine quotes and great photography.
"Our team works incredibly hard to tell Entergy's story. These awards are a great example of the diversity of the topics this department covers," said Joey Lee, manager of communications for Entergy Mississippi. "Having our work selected by judges who are some of the top communications people in the field is quite an honor."
The PRism awards began in 2003 as a way to honor and recognize outstanding work in the field of public relations by professionals within the state of Mississippi. The awards are judged by professionals outside the geographical boundaries of the Southern Public Relations Federation in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. (This year, judges hailed from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.)
Out of the 104 entries submitted this year, only 13 received a PRism Award. The Best of Show Award is presented to one PRism winner that clearly leads the field in creativity, professionalism and merit.
