JACKSON, Miss. – Crews have made substantial progress in restoring power after Thursday night thunderstorms brought heavy rains, hail, lightning strikes, and strong winds of up to 100 mph into Entergy Mississippi’s service territory. Fallen trees and limbs damaged our facilities and caused outages.

The areas of highest impact were Rankin County and surrounding areas, Jackson, Clinton, Brookhaven and Madison. As of 7 p.m. Saturday, there are approximately 2,850 customers without power, and crews have restored power to more than 41,000 customers. Most customers in Jackson and Rankin County should have their power restored today. However, due to the extent of the damage, some customers could carry over to Sunday.

A workforce of damage assessors, vegetation crews, line workers, and support personnel have been working diligently to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

Damage assessment is 99 percent complete and has identified damages to 120 poles, 49 transformers and 90 crossarms and found more than 17 miles of downed wire.
