River Bend Station isn’t just about producing safe, reliable and affordable electricity. The station is also about a different kind of power – the human power that comes from working together to improve lives, create opportunities and strengthen the communities in which we live and serve.
For the last two years, Entergy has served as a foundation partner to Heritage Ranch Christian Children’s Home in Zachary, Louisiana, donating a collective $100,000 to the organization.
The residential home opened this fall to boys from the ages of 13 to 18 who are struggling with crises such as depression, anxiety and other challenges. The boys live with house parents while attending school and receiving help in the areas of tutoring, counseling and life skills. Counselors help residents build self-esteem, strengthen the family unit, and focus on health, wellness and life training skills.
In a recent article in The Advocate, Executive Director Vicki Ellis discusses the journey of Heritage Ranch, from overcoming local opposition to raising nearly $2 million to launch the program as well as future expansion plans.
