Crews restore power to more than 75% of customers impacted by Hurricane Beryl
Entergy Texas has safely restored power to more than 75% of customers impacted by Hurricane Beryl. As of 6:30 p.m., the company has successfully turned the lights back on for approximately 199,100 of the 252,460 customers impacted. The majority of customers who can safely take power are expected to be restored no later than Monday, July 15.
As our restoration crews continue to repair and rebuild parts of the company’s electrical system damaged by Beryl, many variables impact the time needed to make those repairs. For example, under normal circumstances, a standard residential neighborhood pole can be replaced in two to three hours if it’s located on the side of a road, or four to six hours if it’s in a more restricted access, rear-lot or alley. After a severe weather event like a hurricane, replacing a standard residential neighborhood pole could take significantly longer based on downed trees, flooding, or additional hazards in the area. Safety remains a core value for Entergy Texas crews, contractors and customers, which is why the company encourages the community to stay away from work zones, flooded areas, and downed power lines.
The chart below shows the estimated restoration times for areas still without power from Hurricane Beryl. Estimated restoration times are based on current damage assessments and weather forecasts.
