Entergy wins EEI Emergency Response Awards
08/08/2024
The Edison Electric Institute recently awarded Entergy with its 49th Emergency Recovery Award, recognizing the dedication and excellence of our power restoration workers. Entergy was specifically recognized for outstanding restoration efforts earlier this year following a severe weather event that traveled a large portion of our service area.
In April, a strong cold front produced a line of severe thunderstorms that pushed across Southeast Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The storms produced strong winds exceeding 60 mph and extensive flash flooding in the New Orleans metro area. In addition, 13 tornadoes ranging in strength up to EF-2 were confirmed by the National Weather Service.
Presented to EEI member companies, the emergency response awards recognize recovery and assistance efforts of electric companies following service disruptions caused by extreme weather or other natural events. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges following an international nomination process, and the awards were presented during EEI’s annual thought leadership forum.
“We’re honored to receive these awards from EEI recognizing our employees' efforts to restore service to our customers quickly and safely,” said Louie Dabdoub, Entergy’s vice president of incident response. “Despite challenging conditions, our employees worked around the clock to restore power safely and as quickly as possible. I congratulate and applaud our team for their continued dedication to the customers and communities that they serve, and I’m honored to present them with this well-deserved award.”
