Entergy workers help keep customers warm during winter storm

01/18/2024

Entergy Arkansas crews began preparing for the arrival of winter weather well before Christmas, and its efforts this week have paid off.

While the storms did cause outages to customers, employees were able to quickly respond and minimize their duration, despite the treacherous road conditions.

Since severe thunderstorms and wintry weather hit Arkansas last Friday, Entergy Arkansas has safely restored approximately 82,000 customer interruptions. Entergy crews continue to restore power to 68 customers impacted by the winter weather systems that brought extreme cold, snow and ice in our service territory. Restoring your power as quickly and safely as possible is our top priority, and we appreciate your patience.

Entergy Arkansas would like to extend a warm thank you to the men and women who endured extreme conditions to keep the lights on without a safety incident.

Approximately 1,020 resources were activated for storm response. Our power delivery team actively monitored and balanced load strategically across the state to protect our customers and equipment. Entergy Arkansas will remain storm ready.

The most dangerous part of a storm is often just after it passes. Some accumulated snow and ice remain present across parts of our service area today.  We ask that you continue to drive safely and watch for black ice to prevent accidents that could damage electrical equipment and potentially cause power outages.

We are mindful of those facing challenges and we are here to help you keep the power on! All customer disconnections have been suspended through Monday, January 22. For a list of warming centers, visit https://adem.maps.arcgis.com.

Thank you for being a valued Entergy Arkansas customer. Stay warm and connected as we continue to navigate this winter weather together.

FORECASTED WINTER WEATHER EVENT

As temperatures rise above freezing in the days to come, the National Weather Service expects much of our service area to see another bitter cold wintry mix. Temperature lows are forecasted to drop back into the teens and 20s for many of our customers.  Entergy Arkansas is closely monitoring forecasts over the next few days and remain prepared, and we recommend you be prepared as well.
