Fiberglass Crossarms Strengthen Durability Across New Orleans
11/13/2018
In an effort to improve reliability in New Orleans, a group of dedicated Entergy crews continue to make headway across the city, replacing traditional wooden crossarms with stronger, more durable fiberglass models.
These new crossarms are more dependable than their predecessors, serving as a more resilient option in terms of weathering while also being lighter for our crews to transport and install. Fiberglass crossarms are also able to handle a superior load capacity relative to wood crossarms.
Our crews are continuously inspecting and replacing aging equipment – such as the older wooden crossarms – where needed to reduce the frequency and duration of future power outages. Along with this targeted work, they’re also continuing year-round maintenance of power lines, trimming trees, adding lightning protection and installing animal guards.
