More Customers Helped in 2018

Last year, Entergy's low-income customers received an extra $5 million in bill payment assistance.

An increase in the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program and donations to The Power to Care program helped bring home this much-needed support to our seniors and disabled customers.

In total, more than 224,000 customers received about $48 million in bill payment assistance in 2018 – up from $42 million. Congress provided a $300 million increase for LIHEAP nationally – growing the program from $3.4 billion to $3.7 billion. Legislators also directed a larger percentage of these funds to our customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

"Many of Entergy's vulnerable customers who are living on fixed income face tough decisions every month about how to spend their meager funds," said Liz Brister, manager of low-income initiatives. "Do they pay for groceries, rent, medicine or the light bill?

"Programs like LIHEAP and The Power to Care make it possible for our seniors, disabled and struggling working families remain comfortable and safe in the cold and heat."

The company's financial assistance program works with local non-profits, faith-based groups and government to pair customers in need with assistance dollars. The program ensures that customers have uninterrupted service while they are seeking bill payment assistance funds.
