Clay Bray, a lead member of Entergy New Orleans’ reliability crew, discusses what his team is working on to help improve the grid across the city.

What is your current job with Entergy?

I am a lineman on the Metro Area Reliability “Fix It Now” crew, also called the FIN crew.

What are you working on to improve reliability in New Orleans?

We work on hot spots, replacement of aging or broken crossarms, repair and replacement of disconnect switches, removing automatic sleeves from feeders, etc. We improve poles we come across on-site, including placing animal guards, if needed. Our goal is to fix it right the first time to eliminate follow-up site visits and to make our equipment more dependable for customers.

Why is it important for you to help bolster reliability in the city?

Bottom line, no one likes losing power. We owe it to the people of the city to be as reliable as we possibly can at a reasonable cost.

What is something you would like for people to know about the projects you are working on?

Our reputation is important to us as a company. We treat every job as though we are completing it for friends and family, because this city and the surrounding areas are extremely important to us. After all, we live and work here too.

What would you like for the community to know that they may not?

I just ask that everyone know that work is in progress. The needle is really starting to move now and the improvements are being made. Big things are on the horizon for Entergy, and we will all be a part of it in some way or fashion!
