Restoration Efforts Underway in Mississippi Following Sunday Evening Storms

Entergy Mississippi has restored power to more than 8,886 customers after severe thunderstorms with strong winds caused scattered outages in its southern and central service areas on Sunday evening. The storm caused more than 10,500 customer outages at peak. We have brought in additional resources to assist with the restoration effort. All of our crews, contractors and support staff continue to work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power the 1,614 customers remaining without power. We expect to restore most customers who can safely take power by Monday night, though some customers in the Jackson will carry over to Tuesday.
Please continue to respect our utility workers by providing them with the space needed to complete restoration work as we take extra measures necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Copiah County
Crystal Springs
Damage assessment is 90 percent complete. The hardest hit areas are around Sumrall Road and Pevey Road. As of this report approximately 1,600 customers are without power. Entergy estimates all customer that can safely receive power should be restored by 10 pm Monday, August 17.
Hazlehurst
Damage assessment is 90 percent complete and restoration is under way where possible. Entergy estimates all customer that can safely receive power should be restored by 10 pm Monday, August 17.
Hinds County
Byram
As of this report, 16 customers are without power as a result of a thunderstorm, which caused a tree to fall on power lines. Entergy estimates that restoration should be completed by 8 pm Monday, August 17.
Clinton
As of this report, 72 customers are without power as a result of a thunderstorm which has caused a tree to fall on a power lines and two broken poles located off Lakeridge Lane. There are other broken poles and wire down. Entergy estimates restoration should be completed by 8 pm Monday, August 17.
Clinton – MS College Campus
As of this report, 14 customers are without power as a result of a thunderstorm which has caused a tree to fall on a power line. Based on the number and location of outages, Entergy estimates that restoration should be completed by 8 pm Monday, August 17.
Edwards
As of this report, 2 customers are reported without power as a result of a thunderstorm which has caused damage to Entergy’s electrical system. Entergy estimates that restoration should be completed by 8 pm Monday, August 17.
Jackson-North and Jackson-South
As of this report, 1,367 customers are reported without power as a result of a thunderstorm which caused damage to Entergy’s electrical system. Damage assessors have identified 10 broken poles, 12 transformers and wire on the ground caused be fallen trees and limbs. Entergy estimates restoration should be completed by 12:00 noon, Tuesday August 18.
Raymond
As of this report, 396 customers are without power as a result of a thunderstorm which has caused damage to Entergy’s electrical system. A tree has fallen, and wire is down across Springridge Road. Entergy estimates that restoration should be completed by 8 pm Monday, August 17.
Terry
As of this report, 20 customers are without power as a result of a thunderstorm, which caused wire down crossing Midway Road. Entergy estimates restoration should be completed by 8 pm Monday, August 17.
Utica
As of this report, 53 customers are without power as a result of a thunderstorm which has caused damage to Entergy’s electrical system. Entergy estimates restoration should be completed by 8 pm Monday, August 17.
Jeff Davis County
Prentiss
As of this report, 55 customers are without power. Some of our hardest hit areas are around Main Street and Pin Oak. Entergy estimates all customer that can safely receive power should be restored by 10 pm Monday, August 17.
Lawrence County
New Hebron
As of this report, 21 customers are without power. Entergy estimates all customers that can safely receive power should be restored by 2 pm Monday, August 17.
Lincoln County
Brookhaven
Damage assessment is 90 percent complete. As of this report, 100 customers are without power. Entergy has additional crews in route to assist with restoration. Entergy estimates all customers that can safely receive power should be restored by 10pm Monday August 17, 2020
Madison County
As of this report, 49 customers are without power. Entergy estimates all customers that can safely receive power should be restored by 5 pm Monday, August 17.
Pike County

As of this report, 670 customers are without power. Damage assessment is 50 percent complete. Entergy estimates all customers that can safely receive power should be restored by 10 pm Monday, August 17. The estimated time of restoration could change as all damage assessments are completed.
Scott County
Morton
As of this report, 15 customers are without power. Damage assessment is 50 percent complete. Entergy estimates all customers that can safely receive power should be restored by 6 pm Monday, August 17. The estimated time of restoration could change as all damage assessments are completed.
Simpson County

As of this report, 25 customers are without power. Entergy estimates all customers that can safely receive power should be restored by 2 pm Monday, August 17.
Walthall County
Tylertown
Damage assessment is complete. Entergy estimates all customers that can safely receive power should be restored by 5 pm Monday, August 17.
The restoration process can also be hampered by the surge of instantaneous electrical demand from appliances like air conditioning and water heaters when service is restored, potentially overloading protective devices on the electrical system. To reduce the impact of instantaneous demand, Entergy recommends if you lose power that you turn off any electrical appliances that can easily be turned to the off position until power is restored.
As with any weather event, please be mindful of the following safety tips:
- Live wires can be deadly. Stay away from downed power lines. Call 1-800-9OUTAGE or 1-800-968-8243 to report downed or dangling power lines, poles or other damaged equipment.
- Do not trim trees or remove debris on or near downed power lines. Only power company crews or their contractors should remove trees or limbs touching power lines.
- Keep away from the immediate areas where crews are working. There is always the danger of moving equipment and the possibility of construction materials or limbs or overhead wires falling to the ground.
- If you plan on using a generator for temporary power, get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility electric system before hooking up to your main electric panel.
- Do not run a generator in a confined space without adequate ventilation.
