Texas storm restoration update - Saturday evening

05/11/2019

Severe weather blew through the Entergy Texas service territory May 10, causing extensive and widespread damage. The storm included high winds and rain and caused a significant number of outages for customers. Entergy Texas has restored more than 14,500 customers throughout the day since the storm hit Thursday night. As of 5:30 pm, 14,300 Texas customers are without power. Entergy workers continue restoring power for affected customers. Additional resources from Louisiana and Arkansas arrived last night to assist with restoration efforts today.

We have experienced significant distribution damage in several areas, mostly in the Beaumont and Port Arthur.

Severe weather passing through today slowed some of our restoration activities. However, Entergy crews continue working to restore power, despite the inclement weather, as quickly and as safely as possible.

Safety is an Entergy key value and always comes first. Then, safely restoring power is a core value and first order of business. We are restoring service where it is safe to do so.  Our first priority is to restore power to critical community infrastructure and essential services such as hospitals, water treatment plants, police and fire stations, and communication systems. Then, we concentrate our resources on greatest number of customers restored the fastest.
