Tropical Storm Barry Update
07/11/2019
Tropical Storm Barry is expected to make landfall as Category 1 hurricane on Saturday.
Our workers continue working safely and quickly to restore service in advance of the arrival of the storm. Parts of Louisiana, including the New Orleans area, have already experienced power outages due to this storm.
In particular, several thousand customers in and around Ponchatoula, Louisiana, should be restored later today following lightning damage that occurred early this morning at a substation.
Additionally, we addressed service issues for our gas business customers in New Orleans due to the heavy rain yesterday, and continue preparing our gas distribution facilities for the expected effects of the storm.
We are prepared to respond to additional power outages caused in our territory by this storm. We are prepared to reposition resources within our territory to be in position to restore power outages caused by this storm.
When restoration starts, keep in mind that if you don’t see us working near you, we may be working on another part of the electrical system that you can’t see but must be repaired to get power to you.
We encourage you to finalize your preparations.
