BEAUMONT, Texas – Recognizing that growth and opportunity are the lifeblood of any community, Entergy Texas, Inc. is committing more than $1 million this year to nonprofit organizations and community partners across Southeast Texas. This commitment is a part of Entergy Texas’ broader mission to invest in a bright future for Texas by building strong and healthy communities across the region.

“Our commitment to our customers isn’t just about making sure the lights are on,” said Sallie Rainer, president and CEO of Entergy Texas.  “We are unwavering in our mission to help communities grow and create opportunity for citizens across our region.”

In addition to supporting local nonprofits, Entergy Texas is also investing in several different initiatives to help organizations across Southeast Texas create a bright future for residents.

Local Nonprofits

Entergy is contributing $305,000 to different nonprofits and charitable organizations across Southeast Texas.  These contributions fund a range of causes, including Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Interfaith of the Woodlands, Junior Achievement of The Golden Triangle and Regina Rogers Gift of Life, among other organizations.

Harvey Rebuilding

Entergy Texas will provide an additional $300,000 in grants to organizations focused on rebuilding Southeast Texas following Hurricane Harvey.  This continued commitment to helping those affected by Harvey builds on more than $530,000 already donated by Entergy Texas to help those affected by Harvey recover and rebuild following the storm.

The Foundation for Southeast Texas will work with Entergy Texas to administer this funding to non-profit organizations that are helping those affected by Harvey.

Workforce Development

Building on the successful launch of an initiative to develop the future workforce of Southeast Texas, Entergy Texas is continuing its commitment to helping improve educational outcomes for students across the region through the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program with an additional $244,000.  The Texas Workforce Commission will provide a matching grant of $100,000 to continue the successful program.

Entergy Texas’ workforce development initiative funds efforts by Beaumont Independent School District, Port Arthur Independent School District, Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College Port Arthur, Lone Star College, and state agency partners.

This effort is part of an overall $5 million, five-year commitment Entergy Corporation has made to support such efforts in the four-state area it serves.

Environmental

Entergy Texas is committing $225,000 to support environmental initiatives across Southeast Texas.  This funding is a part of Entergy Corporation’s Environmental Initiatives Fund. The fund directs $1 million annually to environmental improvement projects ranging from wetlands restoration to reforestation to carbon credit methodology and more.

Earlier this year, Entergy Texas supported efforts to plant more than 45,000 trees at the Trinity River Wildlife Refuge as part of a two-year initiative to restore 100 acres of bottomland hardwood forest.

Entergy Texas, Inc. provides electricity to approximately 450,000 customers in 27 counties. Entergy Corporation is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, including nearly 9,000 megawatts of nuclear power.
