Entergy and BRAC helping drive economic development in Capital Region
11/30/2022
BATON ROUGE — Entergy Louisiana is continuing to partner with regional organizations to help the state, including Greater Baton Rouge, grow and prosper through economic development. One of the organizations helping us create a more vibrant economy is the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC).
The company recently provided approximately $180,000 to BRAC to help fund efforts outlined in their strategic plan, BRING IT! These efforts include bolstering the area’s talent pipeline, diversifying the job market and opportunities, creating a more inclusive economy and enhancing livability.
“Entergy’s investment in BRAC is integral to our organization making progress on its goals,” said Adam Knapp, BRAC president and CEO. “At the start of 2022, our investors set lofty goals for BRAC and the business community to accelerate economic growth for everyone in the region, and Entergy’s renewed investment shows its commitment to those plans. We thank Entergy for its support, leadership, and dedication to the Capital Region, and we look forward to our continued partnership.”
Through its business and economic development team, Entergy works with state and local government agencies like Louisiana Economic Development, organizations like BRAC and community partners to support businesses from site selection to groundbreaking, including those operating at the national and global level.
To help businesses determine where to locate or expand, Entergy developed and maintains a buildings and sites website called the Site Selection Center. The site includes details about development-ready land, including available utilities and transportation access.
To support site development, Entergy provides in-depth research and analyses regarding workforce availability, construction and transportation, to name a few. To learn more about the services provided by the company’s business and economic development team, visit goentegy.com.
“We’re excited to continue our longstanding partnership with BRAC to drive local economic development in the Capital Region,” said Perry Pertuit, Entergy Louisiana new business development manager. “BRAC’s strategic plan, which includes building local talent and diversifying the economy by helping add jobs in emerging sectors like renewable energy, aligns with many of our company’s core values and business objectives. Working together, we can create a brighter, more sustainable future for our state.”
Over this last decade, Entergy has actively participated in more than 130 announced economic development projects in Louisiana, totaling more than $106 billion in capital investments and creating approximately 17,380 new direct jobs.
For 15 years running, Site Selection magazine has named Entergy Corporation as one of the nation's top utilities in economic development. BRAC was also recognized by the publication, receiving the 2022 Mac Conway Award for excellence in economic development.
