Over $400 million investment will harden more than 730 miles of power lines across the region

BATON ROUGE, La. – Today, Entergy Louisiana representatives and local officials gathered in the Capital Region to celebrate the launch of the company’s comprehensive grid resilience program in the area.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held at a job site near the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, symbolizing the start of a transformative effort to strengthen the region’s electric grid. This event marks a significant milestone in creating a more resilient energy infrastructure that supports faster storm recovery, long-term economic growth and improved reliability for Capital Region communities.

“We’re excited to launch this effort right here in the Capital Region, where strong infrastructure means stronger communities and a stronger economy,” said Phillip May, Entergy Louisiana president and CEO. “With this investment, we’re reinforcing our commitment to our customers and the future of Louisiana.”

Entergy Louisiana is investing more than $400 million over the next four years to upgrade approximately 730 miles of distribution and transmission lines across the Capital Region. As part of the project, approximately 20,300 poles will be upgraded to withstand winds of up to 150 mph, helping to ensure the continuity of service in the face of increasingly severe weather events.

The initiative will directly benefit the Capital Region’s vital multi-billion-dollar industries, as well as small businesses, schools, hospitals and residential customers that rely on affordable and reliable power. With more than $30 billion in industrial projects currently evaluating investment in the region, enhanced grid reliability is a critical factor in supporting continued growth.

Entergy Louisiana’s grid resilience program is a key part of the Louisiana 100 plan, a broader strategy to build a stronger, smarter energy future across the state. Developed using a data-driven approach, the plan focuses on reducing outages, speeding up recovery and ultimately saving customers money through avoided storm restoration costs.

Statewide, the initial phase of the resilience plan includes 2,100 projects reinforcing approximately 69,000 distribution and transmission structures. These upgrades will strengthen Louisiana’s power grid and help safeguard economic activity across the state.

“Strong partnerships are the foundation of our success with this program,” added May. “By working together with state leadership, local elected officials, businesses leaders and our communities, we are able to drive meaningful change, create a lasting impact, and build a future where Louisiana continues to thrive for generations to come.”
