Crews restore power near Brookhaven, Mississippi.
Crews restore power near Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Entergy Mississippi crews are making progress and have restored power to nearly 75% of the more than 45,000 customers who were left without power after major storms moved through the state Saturday night.

We expect the majority of the 11,400 customers who remain without power will be restored by Tuesday night, though these times may change as damage assessment continues and we evaluate the equipment and resources needed to make repairs. More than 1,300 employees and contract partners are engaged in the restoration effort. As restoration is completed in one area, crews will be redirected to support restoration underway in other areas. Customers can find updates to their estimated restoration times on Entergy’s View Outage map.

Damage assessment to our distribution system is 88% complete and so far, we have identified 164 destroyed poles and more than 43 miles of downed wire, among other damaged equipment. Assessment of our transmission system is complete and work is underway to repair the damages, including returning to service five transmission lines that were affected by the storm.

Entergy Mississippi reminds customers that if they live in a neighborhood that has had power restored but don’t have power at their home, they may have electrical damage. If a customer is without power, they should check for damage to the electrical equipment attached to their home or business and contact an electrician to make repairs. For information about a home’s electrical equipment, visit entergynewsroom.com/storm-center/weatherhead/

If electric equipment appears undamaged, text OUT to 36778 or call 1-800-9OUTAGE (800-968-8243). If damage has been repaired by a qualified electrician, call 1-800-ENTERGY (800-368-3749) to generate a service reconnection work order.

Entergy Mississippi began restoring power to customers as safely and quickly as possible after the storms passed. Our workforce, including mutual assistance contractors, will continue working until all power is restored. To support the safety of our workforce and avoid fatigue, individuals should not work more than 16 hours in a 24-hour period and should never work more than 13 days in a row without a 24-hour rest period. This allows our restoration crews to get adequate rest and safely restore power when working.

Here’s how you can stay up to date on our restoration efforts:

  • Download the Entergy app. Customers can use the app to report outages or check on the status of power at their home or business.
