NEW ORLEANS – Entergy Corporation (NYSE: ETR) announced today that Toni Beck has been named group vice president, corporate communications. In her new role, Toni will provide executive leadership for the company's internal and external communications organization.
"Toni's impressive range of experience will be invaluable in leading our efforts to align communication strategies with the company's business units in support of Entergy's aspirations. She brings a broad-based expertise and international perspective gained from experiences with multiple stakeholders and media outlets, ranging from her early days in broadcasting to today's social media platforms," said Rod West, executive vice president, chief administrative officer. "Her energy, expertise and intellect provide a solid foundation for leadership as she sets the vision and strategy for our communications organization."
Beck has more than 18 years of experience in all aspects of communications and public relations. Beck was formerly group vice president, external affairs for Spectra Energy Corp. where she led internal and external communications, including media relations, crisis communications, employee communications, stakeholder outreach, sustainability, and brand and executive communications. She played a key role in the successful launch of Spectra Energy when it was spun off from Duke Energy in 2007. She was instrumental in positioning the company as a relevant voice in the climate change and energy policy debate. In addition, she directed the stakeholder outreach efforts associated with the company's significant North American infrastructure expansion program.
Prior to her role at Spectra Energy, Beck held positions in external affairs, public affairs and community investment at Duke Energy Gas Transmission and Westcoast Energy. Originally from South Africa, she earned a bachelor of social science degree in political studies from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and a journalism diploma from Western Media Institute in Victoria, British Columbia. Beck replaces Arthur Wiese, Jr., who retired Nov. 30. Beck will join the company effective April 18 reporting directly to West.
