03/29/2023
NEW ORLEANS – Entergy New Orleans’ Energy Smart program has been awarded the 2023 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
The Energy Smart program was recognized for its efforts to advance innovations in residential energy efficiency programs and technologies to improve the affordability of home energy upgrades for diverse households through Home Performance with ENERGY STAR. This marks the sixth time Entergy New Orleans has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy for its energy efficiency efforts, following awards in 2014, 2016, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
“Each year, we deliver effective and innovative programs, like Energy Smart, to help our customers personally manage their energy usage and bills,” said Deanna Rodriguez, President and CEO of Entergy New Orleans. “By making small changes, customers can join us in paving the way to a clean energy future for our community.”
To date, Energy Smart has paid more than $43 million in incentives to more than 113,000 participants, saving customers nearly 354.8 million kWh.
Energy Smart is an energy efficiency program administered by Entergy New Orleans on behalf of the New Orleans City Council. Energy Smart offers comprehensive and innovative energy efficiency solutions to help Entergy New Orleans residential and business customers save energy and money by reducing the up-front cost of a variety of energy efficiency upgrades.
The program works with participating partners, local trade allies and retailers to help customers find new ways to save energy through installation or implementation of energy efficiency measures. Programs for residential customers include virtual and in-home assessments, A/C solutions and retail lighting and appliance discount opportunities.
Deeper energy efficiency measures like insulation, air sealing and duct sealing are also available through Energy Smart. For businesses, the Energy Smart Program provides cash incentives for completing energy efficiency improvements to existing and new buildings.
Each year, the ENERGY STAR program honors a select group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions in the transition to a clean energy economy. ENERGY STAR award winners lead their industries in the production, sale, and adoption of energy-efficient products, homes, buildings, services, and strategies. These efforts are essential to fighting the climate crisis, protecting public health, and creating a clean energy future for everyone.
“As we accelerate historic efforts to address climate change, public-private partnerships will be essential to realizing the scale of our ambition,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “I applaud this year’s ENERGY STAR award winners for working with EPA to deliver a clean energy future that saves American consumers and businesses money and creates jobs.”
Winners are selected from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners. For a complete list of 2023 winners and more information about ENERGY STAR’s awards program, visit energystar.gov/awardwinners.
