Entergy Rolls Out $760,000 in Grants to Fuel Stronger Communities in Louisiana

Applications for the program’s second round of grant requests can be made through Aug. 1
BATON ROUGE, La. – Young engineers at Louisiana State University will be preparing for future careers with new state-of-the-art lab equipment thanks to a recent grant from the Entergy Charitable Foundation. The LSU Foundation and 12 other nonprofit organizations in Louisiana communities were awarded $760,000 in the foundation’s first round of grants for 2017.
Requests for funding through the Entergy Charitable Foundation are reviewed twice annually. Applications for the second grant cycle can be submitted through Aug. 1 here.
'We are proud to power life in our communities in ways that go beyond powering the electric grid," said Patty Riddlebarger, director of corporate social responsibility at Entergy. "By providing support to local nonprofits, we are creating a circuit of community partnerships that help build a better community."
Among the Louisiana programs supported in the first round of 2017 Entergy Charitable Foundation grants are:
- Teach for America and its ongoing work in north and south Louisiana schools.
- New Schools for Baton Rouge and its continuing efforts to improve schools across the capital city.
- City Year to expand its efforts to help at-risk students in Baton Rouge.
- Lighthouse for the Blind helping people with disabilities find employment.
- R.E.E. – Teaching Responsible Earth Education’s outdoor environment education program.
- United Negro College Fund’s scholarship and internship programs.
- YMCA of Greater New Orleans’ YES adult literacy program.
