With the East Baton Rouge Parish authorization of the sale and approval to transfer its natural gas franchise rights within the City of Baton Rouge, Entergy moves toward the sale of its gas distribution business to Delta Utilities. The transaction is set to finalize with a switchover date anticipated for late summer, 2025.

Entergy Louisiana’s gas business serves approximately 95,000 homes and businesses in the Baton Rouge area, while Entergy New Orleans’ gas business serves approximately 109,000 homes and businesses in New Orleans.

“We are pleased to reach this milestone in our agreement with Delta Utilities, whose values align with ours around employee engagement, safety, reliability, customer service and local community investment,” said Chip Arnould, Entergy’s director of gas distribution. “This sale allows Entergy to sharpen its focus on the regulated electric utility business, enabling us to better serve our customers and communities. I’d like to thank our employees for their dedication and accomplishments as we prepare for this next chapter.”

“Delta Utilities is excited to lead Entergy's gas distribution operation into its next phase of growth, emphasizing safety, reliability and local workforce investment,” said Tim Poche, CEO of Delta Utilities. “Natural gas has long delivered an essential service that residents and businesses rely on every day, and this transaction is a step toward bringing new opportunities to the region. We want to thank the East Baton Rouge Metropolitan Council for their work in approving the transfer of Entergy's East Baton Rouge franchise agreement and our team remains committed to facilitating a smooth transition as we prepare for the expected changeover this summer.”

The sale has now received all required approvals, including from the Louisiana Public Service Commission, East Baton Rouge Parish Metropolitan Council and the New Orleans City Council. Entergy will continue to ensure safe and reliable gas distribution operations through the switchover date, working closely with Delta Utilities to ensure a smooth transfer.
