Entergy Texas offers free tax assistance for customers

Super Tax Day events provide IRS-certified help for eligible filers

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – For more than 15 years, Entergy has provided free tax preparation for low-to-moderate income customers across its four-state region. This year is no different, as Entergy Texas is offering its customers free tax preparation and support at upcoming Super Tax Day events throughout Southeast Texas. Qualified customers can walk in and receive assistance from IRS-certified volunteers, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free income tax filing experience.

Entergy Texas customers will have access to essential information about tax credits and deductions they might qualify for, including the federal Earned Income Tax Credit, a key program that helps lift many Americans out of poverty. In 2024, Entergy helped low-income customers receive $55 million in federal tax returns across the company’s service area. This year, Entergy’s trained tax volunteers will continue to assist customers in determining their eligibility for this and other credits, helping to maximize their potential refunds.

“We recognize that tax season can be a difficult period for many of our customers, and we are committed to ensuring they have the resources and support necessary to navigate this process with ease," said Stuart Barrett, vice president of customer service at Entergy Texas. "By providing these free services, we aim not only to assist our customers but also to give back to the communities we serve."

The Super Tax Day events will take place at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites throughout the Entergy Texas service area, making it convenient for customers to take advantage of this free and valuable service. In addition to free tax assistance, participants will also receive information about the Kids to College program, which offers a free child savings account funded by Entergy.

Customers unable to attend an event in their area can still receive free, in-person tax preparation services by scheduling an appointment at one of several Entergy-sponsored VITA sites through April 15 or by using the no-cost, online counseling services at www.entergy.com/freetaxhelp/.
