Entergy Texas offers qualifying customers free tax help

IRS-certified volunteers aim to help make the tax filing process easier for Texas families
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – For more than 15 years, Entergy Texas has provided free tax preparation help for low-to-moderate income customers. This year will be no different, as Entergy Texas is sponsoring free tax help events at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites throughout Southeast Texas. Customers who qualify can receive assistance from IRS-certified volunteers to help make the tax filing experience smooth and hassle-free.
"Our free tax help events are another opportunity to support our customers and communities,” said Stuart Barrett, vice president of customer service at Entergy Texas. “Tax season can be a challenging time of year for some families, so it's important for us to volunteer our services and provide access to resources that help make the process easier.”
During the free tax help events, customers will be able to access valuable resources and information on tax credits and deductions they may be eligible for, including the federal Earned Income Tax Credit. The Earned Income Tax Credit is one of the nation’s most effective means of lifting Americans out of poverty. Entergy Texas’ tax preparation volunteers will help customers determine if they are eligible for this and other tax credits, maximizing their tax refunds.
Super Tax Day is Entergy Texas’ kickoff event to the tax preparation season. The first Super Tax Day was held on February 3 at the Conroe Central Library in partnership with Children’s Books on Wheels. The next Super Tax Day, which is in partnership with Lamar University and Catholic Charities, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 10 at the Beaumont Housing Authority’s Gloria Ramirez Neighborhood Resource Center located at 2850 Gulf Avenue.

Customers unable to attend an event in their area can still receive free, in-person tax preparation services by scheduling an appointment at one of the Entergy Texas-sponsored VITA sites through April 15.
In addition to tax preparation, customers will also receive information on how to sign-up for Kids to College, a free child savings account powered by Entergy Texas. When families sign their child up for an account through the Kids to College program, Entergy Texas will contribute $50 and will match any savings in the account up to $365 this year.
