Entergy Texas receives 2024 Heroes of the Community Award from Global Energy Transition
11/14/2024
The award recognizes the company for its leadership and dedication to supporting local communities in the transition toward a more sustainable energy future
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – For the second consecutive year, Entergy Texas is honored to receive the 2024 Heroes of the Community Award presented by the Global Energy Transition organization. The award acknowledges the company's ongoing commitment to sustainable energy initiatives and partnerships that help drive the energy transition forward.
As the world increasingly explores renewable resources like solar and wind, the shift to a more sustainable energy future can have a significant impact on communities, specifically in the form of job displacements. GET, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, seeks to advance the careers of displaced energy professionals and entrepreneurs by helping them find new opportunities in the evolving low-carbon economy.
“Entergy Texas has been a steadfast partner in GET’s journey from early on, uplifting our mission to empower displaced energy professionals and supporting the ‘human factor’ in the energy transition,” said Sonia Clayton, Chairman of GET. “This year, as the official host of our 2024 GET Awards of Excellence, Entergy Texas helped bring together over 130 corporate and community leaders to honor those making a profound impact in the energy sector. Their support exemplifies true leadership, corporate responsibility, and commitment to a sustainable future. We are truly grateful for their unwavering dedication and community partnership.”

Since 2020, the Entergy Corporation has hired at least 40 talented professionals transitioning from oil and gas companies, including 21 individuals in mid- to senior-level roles. This initiative cultivates a skilled and diverse workforce and strengthens the vitality of our communities.
“Our work at Entergy is not just about keeping the lights on; it’s about empowering the people who make up our cherished communities,” said Betina Brandon, GET board member and director of workforce development at Entergy. “By collaborating with GET, we’re helping to retain talented individuals who have the industry experience and expertise to support our region’s rapidly growing energy needs.”
