Motorists Urged to Drive Cautiously Work Areas
Vidor, Texas -- Customers in an area of Vidor will soon see workers in their neighborhoods when an eight- to 10-week project to help ensure service reliability begins. Contract workers for Entergy Texas, Inc. will perform vegetation maintenance work on a power line south of Vidor along Highway 105 to FM 1135. Work should start by the end of September with completion depending on weather.
The project will target removal of brush, tree limbs and other vegetation that has grown too close to power lines. Crews will complete some of the work manually, so motorists are urged to be alert in work areas and drive cautiously.
“All of our power lines, whether in densely populated cities or along rural county roads, are on a regular maintenance schedule,” said Johnny Trahan, customer service representative for the area. “It's an example of how we invest in our system to reduce outages and help ensure a safe, reliable supply of power to our customers.”
Entergy Texas invests about $7 million per year in its vegetation management program, trimming an average of 2,000 line miles annually.
Entergy Texas, Inc. provides electricity to more than 430,000 customers in 27 counties. It is a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation. Entergy is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations.
