Wellington Place, Bevil Oaks Community Next up for Service Reliability Work

Motorists Urged to Drive Cautiously Work Areas

Beaumont, Texas -- Two new electric service reliability projects are set to begin in the Beaumont area over the next two weeks. The first includes neighborhoods along Beaumont's busy Dowlen Road while the other will take care of rural neighborhoods off Highway 105.

Both projects will target removal of brush, tree limbs and other vegetation that has grown too close to power lines.

Contractors for Entergy Texas, Inc. will trim vegetation away from a more than 10-mile long power line that originates at the Tanglewood Substation on Wellington near Wellington Place. The line provides electricity to some 2,332 customers along Dowlen Road to Folsom east to Crow Road, then south of Collier, Dawn, Milton and Reagan streets.

The project is set to begin today, Monday, Aug. 10 and, depending on weather,  is expected to be completed in early September.

Work is set to get underway Aug. 17 on a power line that originates from the Bevil Substation on Tram Road. The line is 50 miles long and serves 1,364 customers including those in the Bevil Oaks, Pinewood and Countrywood Estates. Work should be completed by early October.

In both of the projects, crews will be doing some of the work manually so motorists are urged to be alert in work areas and drive cautiously.

"All of our power lines, whether in densely populated cities or along rural county roads, are on a regular maintenance schedule," said Pam Williams, customer service representative for the area. "It's an example of how we invest in our system to reduce outages and help ensure a safe, reliable supply of power to our customers."

Entergy Texas invests about $7 million per year in its vegetation management program, trimming an average of 2,000 line miles annually.
