Entergy Louisiana storm update – 6/16/23, 4 p.m.
06/16/2023
Entergy Louisiana crews are continuing to make progress restoring power to customers in North Louisiana after intense storms impacted the area early this morning. More than 75% of affected customers (or 30,700 of the 41,000 customers that were out at the peak) who can safely accept electric service have been restored.
Estimated times of restoration by parish are listed below.
Some customers may have damage to the electric equipment attached to their home (like the weatherhead) that will need to be repaired before Entergy can reconnect their electric service. For more information on having power reconnected following a storm, please visit the What’s Yours? What’s Ours? page on our Newsroom.
At 3 p.m., crews had completed approximately 50% of damage assessments. So far, scouts and other workers have found the following in need of repair or replacement:
- Approximately 60 utility poles
- Approximately 30 transformers
- Approximately 80 crossarms
- Approximately 120 spans of wire (a span being amount of power line from one pole to another)
Some utility work is taking place off-road in rural areas where downed trees, limbs and debris is causing transportation and access delays. But regardless of these challenges, tree trimmers, distribution lineworkers and others will continue working together to restore power quickly and safely. Hundreds of workers are spread across North Louisiana and hundreds more have been called upon to aid in the restoration efforts.
Entergy is urging customers to keep safety top of mind. According to the National Weather Service – Shreveport, temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s with heat indices in excess of 100 degrees this afternoon. Stay hydrated and wear loose fitted clothing. Also, customers using portable generators are urged to use them safely and according to manufacturer guidelines. Please avoid plugging generators into wall outlets and using generators indoors or near windows and doors as this can be a carbon monoxide hazard.
