Entergy Mississippi storm update – 6/4/24, 8 p.m.
06/04/2024
Crews have made substantial progress in restoring power after overnight thunderstorms brought heavy rains, hail, lightning strikes, and strong winds into Entergy Mississippi’s service territory. Fallen trees and limbs damaged our facilities and caused outages. Between 9:00 p.m. last night and 6:00 p.m. today, crews had restored power to 15,748 customers. However, an additional line of thunderstorms moved through the service area this afternoon, causing additional outages. As of 7:15 p.m., 16,488 customers are without power.
As a result of these two storms, the Vicksburg, Brookhaven and Natchez areas sustained significant damage and outages will carry over to tomorrow. At this time, we do not have restoration times for these areas.
A workforce of 720 damage assessors, vegetation crews, line workers, and support personnel have been working diligently to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Additional workers have been requested to assist in this restoration effort.
So far, damage assessment has identified damages to 45 poles, 10 transformers and 34 crossarms and found more than 190 spans of downed wire. Damage assessment will continue tomorrow.
