Entergy’s Louisiana Companies Monitoring Tropical Storm Cristobal
06/04/2020
NEW ORLEANS – Entergy’s Louisiana companies are continuing to monitor and plan for the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Cristobal as it makes its way through the Gulf of Mexico over the next few days.
While Cristobal’s path could change, forecasters expect it to bring severe thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rains, high tides and coastal flooding to portions of Louisiana.
Entergy Louisiana and Entergy New Orleans are preparing for the impacts of Cristobal and for potential power outages. The companies’ crews and contractors are on alert and ready to safely restore power to customers as quickly as possible. Though it may be too soon to determine the exact location, timing and magnitude of the storm, Entergy encourages customers to monitor all local weather alerts and have their storm plan in place. It is important to remember that due to the additional safety measures the companies must take because of the COVID-19 pandemic or an inability to secure enough offsite resources, restoration times may be extended, especially if there are widespread outages.
“Entergy is prepared to safely restore power should severe weather strike our service territories in Louisiana,” said John Hawkins, Entergy’s vice president of distribution operations in Louisiana. “We have plans in place that we rehearse year-round, and we want to make sure our customers are prepared as well. Our Entergy Storm Center is a great hub of information on storm readiness, and I encourage our customers to begin putting some of those items into practice.”
Along with standard storm preparations, Entergy continues to navigate through the pandemic by taking additional preparation steps and adhering to all CDC and state guidelines. Crews will continue to practice social distancing, even in the field, and we ask that customers do the same. For their safety and yours, please stay away from work zones. If you need to report a problem with your service at any time, call 1-800-ENTERGY.
