Entergy Texas Prepared for Tropical Storm Hanna
07/24/2020
With hurricane season in full swing, Entergy Texas is monitoring and prepared to respond to any impacts from Tropical Storm Hanna currently forecast to make landfall along the Texas coast. Beyond the system currently in the Gulf, Entergy Texas is also monitoring Tropical Storm Gonzalo as it travels across the Atlantic Ocean.
Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to make landfall Saturday, bringing with it the potential for heavy rain, flash flooding and high wind gusts, which may cause power outages across the region. Customers could start seeing impacts from the storm as early as Friday evening. And while it is too soon to tell, Tropical Storm Gonzalo could impact our area. As we enter the peak of hurricane season, now is the time for customers to make sure they are prepared.
“Entergy Texas is prepared to safely restore power should the storm cause damage and outages in southeast Texas,” said Stuart Barrett, vice president of customer service. “We have plans in place that we rehearse year-round, and we want to make sure our customers are prepared as well. Our Entergy Storm Center is a great hub of information on storm readiness, and I encourage our customers to consider their own personal plans now.”
Along with standard storm preparations, Entergy Texas continues to navigate through the pandemic by taking additional preparation steps and adhering to all CDC and state guidelines. Crews will continue to practice social distancing, even in the field, and we ask that customers do the same. For their safety and yours, please stay away from their work zones.
