After a storm like Hurricane Ida, widespread power outages and high summer temperatures often lead people to turn to portable generators to keep air circulating and refrigerators running. But improper use of gas generators is one of the leading dangers after a storm passes.
We have partnered with New Orleans Recreational Development to provide generators to its facilities for residents to cool off, hydrate and charge their phones, while our crews continue to restore power in the greater New Orleans area.
Five days after Ida made landfall, Entergy has restored 225,000 of the nearly 950,000 customers who lost power due to the storm, with estimated restoration times now available for most Louisiana customers.
Entergy Mississippi crews have made significant progress restoring power after two severe weather systems struck our service area earlier this week. As of 7 a.m., about 4,000 customers remain without power, down from a peak of about 46,000. Approximately 3,500 of those outages are from Hurricane Ida and the remaining 500 are related to Wednesday’s thunderstorms.
Our nearly 26,000 workers from 40 states are helping assess damage and destruction across our territory and restoring service where it is safe to do so. The restoration process will continue to accelerate in the coming days.
