Entergy Mississippi has restored power to more than 38,000 customers after severe thunderstorms caused significant equipment damage and power outages throughout much of our northern and central service areas on Saturday, January 11.
Since fall 2018, Entergy Corporation has provided free trees to customers through the Arbor Day Foundation’s Energy-Saving Trees program. Since then, 2,700 trees have been delivered directly to customers’ homes across the company’s four-state utility service area, including Louisiana.
All customers that can accept electrical service safely have been restored and crews continue restoring power to customers impacted by weekend thunderstorms and tornadoes.
As of noon today, outages have been reduced from the peak of more than 42,800 outages to 2,653 outages.
As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, about 4,000 customers affected by the weekend’s storms remain without power, down from a peak of 38,300. We made significant progress yesterday and have brought in special equipment to help us access and restore damage in hard-to-reach areas.
It is estimated that 95% percent of the affected customers will be restored by 10:00 p.m. tonight.
As of noon today, power has been restored for nearly 29,700 Entergy Mississippi customers affected by Saturday morning’s storms. About 8,600 customers remain without power, primarily in our northern service area. We expect some customers to be restored by Tuesday evening, though some in the hardest hit areas will carry over to Wednesday.
