Entergy was once again recognized as the most generous workplace by United Way of Southeast Louisiana during their June 23 annual meeting. The company was No. 1 on UWSELA's 2021 Top 10 Most Generous Workplaces list.
The company awarded 34 children and dependents of Entergy employees with its $5,000 Community Power Scholarship. Since 2003, company shareholders have contributed more than $3 million to 615 recipients for the one-time scholarship.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on the city’s urban canopy, making New Orleans one of the most deforested cities in America. As part of Entergy’s commitment to grow strong, healthy and vibrant communities through service and environmental stewardship, Entergy began partnering with NOLA Tree Project in 2015 to help restore the estimated 100,000 lost trees.
While facing COVID-19-related restrictions, remote working and responding to five named storms, employees and retirees logged more than 95,000 hours of volunteer service during 2020. This service resulted in a $3.4 million impact to local economies.
Entergy will once again help customers who qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit claim the money they’ve earned. Entergy will also continue its partnership with community advocates to support free IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance tax preparation services for qualifying customers.
