An empty field next to UA – Pulaski Tech Business and Industry Center will soon be home to rows of utility poles for training line workers. Leaders from utility companies in the state, workforce development groups and community colleges were on hand Monday while workers set the first pole for the new certified line worker training program.
Entergy Arkansas, LLC, and NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, Inc. announced today plans to build a 100-megawatt solar energy facility in White County near Searcy.
Out of concern for security and safety, Entergy Arkansas began March 1 closing the gate on the road to the tailrace area at the base of Remmel Dam at 10 p.m. nightly. The gate is re-opened at 5 a.m.
Entergy shareholders provided $9.7 million in grants in 2018 to support more than 700 nonprofit organizations that provide essential services and help build healthy, vibrant communities across Louisiana. Approximately 50 percent of the contributions went to support education and workforce development.
Arkansas high school seniors can now apply for the Oscar Washington Jr., Educational Fund Scholarship, which will award a minimum of seven $1,000 scholarships to college-bound high school students. Scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing a degree at a four-year college and will be based on academic achievement, financial need and volunteer service.

Volunteers provide help on Super Tax Day, throughout the tax season at VITA site
Entergy Arkansas customers will receive free tax preparation at Entergy’s Super Tax Day program held Saturdays in February. At local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites, Central Arkansas Development Council, Arkansas Community Organization, Bank On Arkansas+, and Entergy volunteers help qualified residents claim federal Earned Income Tax Credits.
