Vote shows bipartisan support for language clarifying Mississippi Public Service Commission as first forum for claims against utilities
In cooperation with the Mississippi Public Service Commission, Entergy Mississippi, Inc. today filed its preliminary plan for implementing tax reform. The formal plan will be filed in mid-March as part of the company’s annual rate filing.
Entergy Mississippi, Inc. today praised the members of the Mississippi House Public Utilities Committee for the passage of Senate Bill 2295. The bill, which reauthorizes the Mississippi Public Service Commission, includes “fairness language” which clarifies that the MPSC is the proper forum to first address state law claims against electric utilities. The bill has already passed the Mississippi Senate 51-1.
Construction will start Tuesday, Feb. 6, on Entergy Louisiana’s $100 million technological upgrade to its electric power transmission grid in Jefferson Davis Parish.
Winter brought extreme cold weather to southeast Texas this season, which prompted record-low temperatures and high electricity usage in late December and early January. As a result, some Entergy Texas customers are experiencing higher-than-normal electricity bills.
The Southeast’s normally mild winters don’t typically result in high energy bills. However, in parts of Entergy’s service area, temperatures recently reached 20 to 30 degrees below average.

Cold weather and electricity usage were on the rise in Arkansas in late December and early January. Some Entergy Arkansas customers, as a result, are experiencing higher-than-normal electricity bills. It also happens that this increase in usage coincides with new rates that took effect for 2018.
