Entergy Louisiana has completed a major element of a multi-million dollar program to enhance service reliability to Plaquemines Parish customers and meet the needs of a growing economy.
The New Orleans City Council voted today to approve construction of the New Orleans Power Station, a 128-megawatt unit composed of seven natural gas-fired reciprocating engines. This modern, efficient electric generating facility will support reliable service and essential grid stability, and help to support the inclusion of renewables into the company’s resource portfolio.
Construction will start Tuesday, Feb. 6, on Entergy Louisiana’s $100 million technological upgrade to its electric power transmission grid in Jefferson Davis Parish.
Final major step in demolishing 64-year-old facility
Entergy Louisiana took another important step toward modernizing its generating fleet, enhancing reliability and securing a long-term supply of lower cost energy for customers with today’s ceremony formally kicking off construction of the Lake Charles Power Station.
Entergy Louisiana today began work on the second phase of construction of a multi-phase, $69 million upgrade to the electric transmission infrastructure along the Lapalco Boulevard corridor on the West Bank of Jefferson Parish from Bayou Segnette to Harvey.

Entergy Louisiana, LLC will ring in the New Year in Jefferson Davis Parish with the start of an approximately $100 million technological upgrade to its electric power transmission grid. The project will enhance reliability, increase transmission capacity and help ensure the availability of affordable power now and into the future for the parish. Construction will begin in January 2018.
