Expanding workforce training and readiness programs in Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana is the purpose of a new $250,000 grant to Jobs for America’s Graduates from Entergy Corporation.
Due mostly to continued low natural gas prices, Entergy Mississippi customers will see rates temporarily drop again this year. Beginning in April, the typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month will pay $10.88 less, or just over $82, keeping rates well below the national average.
For many years, Entergy Mississippi, Inc. has partnered closely with New Stage Theatre on a touring program that brings arts education directly to the state’s school children, many of whom have never seen live theater.
During LIHEAP Action Day March 2, Entergy Mississippi representatives and community partners will make the case for increased funding of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. The funding goal is at least $4.7 billion for 2017.

On Super Tax Day, Feb. 6, 2016, in Jackson at local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites, Entergy Mississippi will sponsor free tax preparation for working families. Volunteers certified by the Internal Revenue Service will help local residents determine if they qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit program and other refunds and credits.
The Entergy Charitable Foundation is powering life in Mississippi communities with recent grants to nonprofit partners totaling $156,000. Charitable organizations may apply for 2016 support by completing the application form by Feb. 1, 2016.
