Nearly 500 jobs created at nuclear plant and headquarters

Entergy Corporation today completed the sale of Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee to subsidiaries of NorthStar Group Services, which will decommission the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station site.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has renewed operating licenses for Entergy’s two nuclear plants in Louisiana, River Bend Nuclear Station and Waterford 3 Steam Electric Station.

Palisades Power Plant returned to service this morning, following the completion of its successful scheduled refueling and maintenance outage. Control room personnel returned the plant to operation, sending electricity to the grid after a planned shutdown that began October 28. This was the 26th refueling in the plant’s history.

The Vermont Public Utility Commission (PUC) today issued an order that approves the proposed sale of Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee to subsidiaries of NorthStar Group Services for decommissioning the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station site. The PUC also issued an amended Certificate of Public Good, which authorizes NorthStar to own, possess the licenses for, and decommission Vermont Yankee.

Palisades Power Plant has begun a scheduled $62 million refueling and maintenance outage, reflecting a commitment to safe, secure, and reliable operations until the facility’s permanent retirement in spring of 2022. It is the 26th such outage since the plant opened in 1971.

The two operating units at Indian Point Energy Center, Unit 2 and Unit 3, received their renewed operating licenses today from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, ending more than 11 years of regulatory review.

Entergy Corporation’s shutdown Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station has completed the final movement of spent nuclear fuel from the spent fuel pool in the reactor building to dry storage casks, a major milestone in decommissioning. The campaign was completed ahead of schedule and within the projected budget.
