Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO), the state’s only operational nuclear power plant, proudly celebrates 50 years of commercial operation this December. For decades, Entergy has been at the forefront of addressing climate issues and has positioned itself as one of the cleanest large-scale generation fleets in the United States.

Adding to its growing fleet of utility-scale solar generating facilities, Entergy Arkansas has announced the start of commercial operations at Walnut Bend Solar Energy Center. The 100-megawatt solar energy center is located in Lee County to the east of Brinkley, Arkansas.

By replacing older power plants with more advanced and efficient technology, Entergy Mississippi is producing more electricity from the same amount of fuel while significantly reducing carbon emissions.

The plan benefits communities by minimizing outages, reducing restoration costs and improving recovery times for extreme weather events while keeping rates affordable.

Entergy Arkansas leaders past and present gathered with state and county officials to mark the 100th anniversary of Remmel Dam. The first dam constructed on the Ouachita River, Remmel Dam has been providing safe and reliable hydroelectric power to the state of Arkansas for the last century.

Community engagement is key to the plant’s long-term success

The project will bring $1.8 billion in economic activity and more than 7,000 jobs to the community.
