Personnel at Entergy Corporation's nuclear plants in the Northeast continue to track Hurricane Sandy's path to ensure they are well prepared for the potential of high winds and rainfall.

In the wake of Hurricane Isaac's damaging winds and flooding, Entergy Louisiana, LLC and Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, L.L.C. are joining community partners to support Isaac relief efforts as well as expanding their own bill-assistance programs to help customers affected by the storm.

After slow-moving Hurricane Isaac struck southeastern Louisiana in late August, leaving more than 787,000 customers from Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas without electricity, Entergy Corporation today provided an update on preliminary financial effects, liquidity resources and recovery initiatives.

Entergy is focusing its restoration efforts on about 3,400 customers who are able to safely take power. At its peak, the storm left approximately 704,000 customers in Louisiana without power.

A U.S. Department of Energy official from the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability praised Entergy Corporation for its response to Hurricane Isaac after completing a preliminary inspection of the damage and restoration work in Louisiana.

Entergy crews restored approximately 75,000 more Louisiana customers since late Monday afternoon. Most areas more than 90 percent restored.

By Monday afternoon, Entergy crews have restored power to 86 percent of Louisiana customers who lost electricity when Hurricane Isaac made landfall Aug. 29.
