Following the New Orleans City Council’s February 2018 resolution directing Entergy New Orleans to quantify the benefits to customers of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the company has agreed, under the direction of the council’s advisors, to flow through approximately $50 million in tax savings benefits by July 2019.

John Bethel has been named the director of public affairs for Entergy Arkansas, Inc. He replaces Paul Means, who retired after 37 years at Entergy Arkansas. Like Means, Bethel’s primary area of responsibility will be at the State Capitol.
Upon completing an extensive investigation, Entergy can confirm that it did not pay, nor did it authorize any other person or entity to pay, individuals to attend or speak at Council meetings. Furthermore, Entergy was not aware that any person or entity engaged on its behalf would do so or had done so.

Entergy Arkansas will refund customers $466 million.
Earlier this year, Congress passed the Tax Cut and Jobs Act. Governor Asa Hutchinson then requested prompt action by the Arkansas Public Service Commission to pass that benefit on to customers as quickly as possible. As a result, in April 2018, customers began seeing a credit on their Entergy Arkansas bill as line item “Tax Cuts & Jobs Act Credit.”
