Entergy Mississippi crews have restored power to more than 7,000 customers after severe weather moved through our service several times during the day. As of 6:30 p.m., 8,392 customers remain without power, down from a peak of 15,560.
A line of severe thunderstorms with strong winds passed through Entergy Mississippi’s service territory March 4, causing power outages for about 15,000 customers. The hardest-hit area is Madison County where as of 10:30 a.m., about 10,200 customers remain without power, down from a peak of 14,000. Our crews are assessing damage and restoring service as quickly and safely as possible. The Flora substation is out due to a fallen tree. We are bringing in additional resources to assist with the restoration effort. Check View Outages for the latest outage numbers and estimated restoration times in your area.
Flood waters along the Pearl River have receded and Entergy Mississippi has completed restoration for customers who are able to receive electrical service. While Pearl River flooding threats have subsided, Mississippi River water levels are rising. We have disconnected service to some customers affected by those conditions for public safety and to comply with the National Electric Safety Code. Our crews continue to inspect equipment related to both situations. We remain focused on working safely to restore service when customers can safely take power.
As flood waters in the Jackson metro area have begun to recede, we continue to focus on maintaining safety for our customers. Crews are inspecting our equipment and meters impacted by the flood in hopes of restoring customers that can take service. We expect this to take several days to complete.
Severe weather can strike at any time, so Entergy stays prepared year-round, and urges customers to do the same.
