As of 7 p.m., power has been restored for 25,300 Entergy Mississippi customers. About 13,000 customers remain without power, down from a peak of 38,300.
A line of severe thunderstorms with straight line winds has moved through Entergy’s service area causing approximately 54,500 outages across the state.
Crews expect to restore power by tonight to the majority of customers still without electricity in areas struck hardest by the violent storm system that swept across Louisiana Saturday.
Our restoration workers have made great progress restoring service to customers affected by the recent severe weather. Significant damage in some areas will extend restoration for those customers. We have more than 3,000 restoration workers in the field.
The Delta region of Mississippi was hit especially hard by this morning’s storms, causing significant damage. As of Saturday evening, we have almost 400 broken poles among other damage.
Crews expect to restore power tonight to the vast majority of customers affected by a storm system that cut through Louisiana Saturday, with all remaining customers in the hardest hit areas who can take service restored by Sunday or Monday.
